Who is Damavik? Damavik (Belarusian word, equivalent to Russian domovoi, Ukranian domovyk, Polish domowik and many other versions known by Slavik peoples) is a sort of Belarusian folklore house elf, he is a relative to the English Brownie. Traditionally, it is said that Damaviks inhabit every house. They are said to be the house guardians, who help with household, if the family treats them well. Damavik is the character of our postcards series of postcards for postcrossing. Our Damavik lives in a cozy country house. He eats draniki, mushroom soup. He travels around the country to the most amazing place such as the Mir castle, the Tower of Kamyanets. He has friends among the typically Belarusian animals - Aurochs, storks... And now Damavik is travelling around the world to get into the collections of postcards of our fellow postcrossers. : )
